Art in the open

2018 is the 6th year of the art exhibition Inspired by Becker, held in St Peter’s church, Wenhaston, and this year Holy Trinity is joining in. The gifted, but little-known local artist Harry Becker (1865-1928) and his family are buried in our churchyard, and so we are hosting a ‘Paint Out Competition’. Becker was best known for his scenes of agricultural life, and this is an opportunity for local artists to work in the open air as Becker used to. On Saturday 4 August, artists will be working in the churchyard between 10am and 1pm, and their work will be shown as part of the main exhibition. The opening preview of this is at St Peter’s on Thursday 2 August from 6.30pm, and the main exhibition runs from Friday 3 August until Sunday 5 August, from 10am–5pm.
